LARAH DECIDE VIVER

Larah decidiu viver.

Larah decidiu escrever, e viver. Escrever tudo.

A mentira torna tudo estranho e vazio. As palavras perdem o sentido e, alguns perdem a vez.

A mente aliviada. Ocupara tempo demais com o pensamento e o pensar, agora queria cuidar de si, gostar de si.

Resolveu escrever que assim nunca mais.

THE POET WHO TOOK THE ROAD NOT TAKEN

The Road Not Taken
By Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
- I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The poet who took the road not taken – Robert Frost, well known as one of the most brilliant writers in American Literature, a four-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize - made important contributions to literature. He overcame the expected, and that is exactly what makes him notably unique.

The poem ‘The Road Not Taken’, one of his most well known poems, was firstly widely analyzed from the perspective of only two roads. The narrator had chosen one of them. Some readers, frequently, relate the lyric voice to Robert Frost itself. Indeed, Professor Kevin Murphy, in his lecture about Frost at Ithaca College has given that perspective of the poem. However, according to Professor Murphy, ‘there are many discrepancies between how Frost’s audience perceived him and how he actually was’. The popularity of Frost during his lifetime and the darker implications of his poetry can be found through the narrator of ‘The Road Not Taken’.

Professor Murphy contrasts the poem with Frost's life. If we analyze the poem based on Frost’s personal life there are many moment where he had to make important decisions. Frost’s father died when he was about eleven years old, he had a very difficult childhood. He had jobs he hated, when a young man. Also, in 1912, he had to decide to sell his farm and move with his wife and four young children to England. Over there, he invested the money from the sold farm, dedicating time exclusively to writing. Actually, it was at that time that he published his first collection of poems, A BOY'S WILL (1913), at the age of 39. It was followed by NORTH BOSTON (1914), which gained international reputation and from that time, he started to build a strong career as writer. Two years after he went back to USA, but now, to publish his books. In 1916, he was made a member of the National Institute of Arts and Letters. On the same year appeared his third collection of verse, MOUNTAIN INTERVAL (1916), which contained the poem 'The Road Not Taken’.

When Frost used the image of ‘ Ways’ to be chosen, in the poem, he knew very much about how one way can lead to another way. Robert Frost had already lived in England and had come back to USA. He had a family, a successful life as a writer. But instead of giving the perspective of two roads, Robert Frost gave much more. The lyric voice said that ‘Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both (…)’, also at the end it says: ‘(…) Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.’ From the perspective of Professor Murphy he took another way, differently from the two he described at first. But for me, the narrator was just wondering about many choices we have in life. He was wondering how one can lead to another, and that can lead to another. And, at the end, we can find ourselves in a completely different way. When he says ‘(…) I looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;(…)’ it represents when we die, and after considered both ways ‘(…) really about the same, (…)’ because it doesn’t matter what way we choose, at the end it will be just different choices we made, death will be there for all of us. The ending will be the same.

Amazingly, once more Robert Frost was able to overcome the obvious. His poetry has become bigger than his own life. From apparent cheerful poem, it was revealed a deep and strong perspective of his work. A poem that can go from one perspective to another, from cheerful or obvious to dense it makes Robert Frost a man who travelled somewhere else, but not the common place. His carefully chosen words, created a new way, his own way to write poetry, making it so unique. Finally, Frost gave the perspective of a road not taken, because it is our own road. We can make choices, but is unpredictable as life all its consequences. We can stop, look for many ways, but who knows the end? And, who knows if or where that road chosen will find a roundabout and other new way ending somewhere else? Somewhere different from what we firstly thought would be the end? What really matters is to notice that there are ways, choices and unexpected surprises in life.

QUERIA TOCAR O CÉU, MAS EIS QUE ENCONTREI VOCÊ.

Queria tocar o céu,
Mas eis que encontrei você.

Não há sanidade na paixão,
Nem juiz, nem juízo.
Prova da tua força
Diz não, foge então.
Só julgue o que conhece.
Não tem idéia.
Mas saiba que se fosse puro
Esse seu torpe coração
Veria além das dores
Da sua efêmera razão.

O POETA REVELADO

PORQUE O CONHECERÃO PELO QUE LÊEM, E NÃO PELO QUE ÉS, DEPOIS QUE SE REVELAR.

BECAUSE YOU WILL BE NAMED FROM WHAT THEY READ, AND NOT FROM WHAT YOU ARE, AFTER YOU REVEAL YOURSELF.

I cannot fake that I AM A CHEERFUL PERSON.

I cannot fake I am a cheerful person; or I am or I am not.

You cannot pretend that you will wake-up and think –Well, today I will be a cheerful person; but then, at the first adversity, when you notice that your cat peed on the floor, it would be a good excuse to ruin the day.

We must be prepared for the unexpected, because most of the time in life, unexpected things happen to us. And most of us expect that everything goes as planned. So, I suggest, you start thinking the opposite. Try to deal with the unexpected, and then, it will be already expected, as you firstly wished. It seems crazy, but it works most of the time.

Do you remember when you planned for months the dream holiday? The Holiday of your life, that one you always dreamed about, but suddenly it turned into a hell holiday? Or the wedding so well planned that ended in tears and disappointment.

Be prepared, life has life itself.

People, as everything else have their own plans, as we do. And sometimes their plans don’t match with ours. If you are those who believe in destiny, so it gets even worse. Because life will have life itself, and destiny too. It doesn’t matter what you do there will be always the life’s plan in your way.

Do not plan to be happy, BE happy.

It seems very obvious, but it is true. -But how to do that? – So, start from the things you like and you don’t like. Do you know yet? Imagine today is your birthday, it’s your day, and you will have the whole day dedicated to yourself. Some people, actually, do that, really. On that special day, My Dear, you are The Queen, The Master and The Planner.

What would you do in Your very special day??

You would be very surprised, and don’t be, if you find that a very tricky question, indeed.

We don’t know what would make us happy, just because happiness is out from things. It must be inside us. Then, we notice that a day at home would be a Perfect Day; a party for 3 would be The Perfect Party. Did you get it?

If you cannot turn into a happy person, and also, You cannot plan to be happy. If happiness is always there, IN there. Take a closer look to yourself, My Friend. Look inside, search inside. It was always there that thing you were looking for.

We tend to put all the rest first, that’s why it gets difficult to find it.

When we are children, happiness is like a constant mood. I am talking about a healthy childhood, or as closer as we can supose it would be a ‘normal’ childhood. You remember that day at the swimming pool? It could be raining, it could be dirty the water, and it could be cloudy and cold. That had never really mattered. You had the best moments. You enjoyed The Moment. Honestly, I look to a swimming pool and the first question that comes to my mind is – Is it cold? Because, most of the time I am looking so apparently, I cannot see. What does make it a warm place is the magic that happens when you jump on it, like children do. Just jump. Feel the feeling. Let it go. I have a Friend, who died from Leukemia; He used to say – Se joga!(Jump Yourself!). He knew what life was about. He got to know that every minute counts and that we do not have time to think if the water is cold. Just jump.

I cannot fake I am a cheerful person. I already am. You already are. Do not ruin that part of you that is always there deeply hidden. Search it, and find it. Then turn it into your way of living, as the child you once were would do.

Be happy isn’t always be smiling. We must cry, get upset, yell, and sometimes shout. But we must smile too. Life is such a happy instant. JUMP! JUMP NOW!

If the water is cold – Jump!

If the plan was not that – Jump!

If you are sad – Jump! Cry like a child would cry. Scream, shout, swear. In your own bedroom. But then, get out of that sadness, as a child would do. And think about a simple candy you like. Or that game you wished. Or the cartoon that is the best. Take a better look, and you already have forgotten All that Shit.

Life is unexpected, we are unexpected. And as such mystery, start a new day thinking that the treasure, the golden prize, is to turn unexpected into a surprising moment to enjoy, to live.

That Friend, who used to jump, used also to stop and look to the empty space for a moment. I am wondering what He was wondering about. Sometimes he was looking in my direction, but not me, for sure. I could see from his eyes that He was somewhere else. Just like kids do. We can jump somewhere else even without moving the eye. Actually, is such a vision, the dream, that you cannot dare blink.

If you may get confused about the reading, You may ask – What the hell is she talking about? Then, I would answer to you. - I woke up; I had a jump somewhere else. Now, I am going back to sleep the sweetest dreams.

More From Dickinson...I am in love...

THE SOUL selects her own society,

Then shuts the door;
On her divine majority
Obtrude no more.

Unmoved, she notes the chariot’s pausing
At her low gate;
Unmoved, an emperor is kneeling
Upon her mat.

I ’ve known her from an ample nation
Choose one;
Then close the valves of her attention
Like stone.

I ’M nobody! Who are you? Emily Dickinson

I ’M nobody! Who are you?

Are you nobody, too?

Then there ’s a pair of us—don’t tell!

They ’d banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody!

How public, like a frog

To tell your name the livelong day

To an admiring bog!

I AM NOT THERE

Bob Dylan — I'm Not There lyrics

Thing's all right and she's all too tight

In my neighborhood she cries both day and night

I know it because I was there

It's a milestone but she's down on her luck

And she's daily salooning about to make her hard earned buck

I was there

I believe where she'd stop him if she wants time to care

I believe that she'd look upon beside him to care

And I'd go by the Lord and when she's on my way

But I don't belong there

No, I don't belong to her, I don't belong to anybody

She's my Christ forsaken angel but she don't hear me cry

She's a lone hearted mystic and she cant carry on

When I'm there she's alright but then she's not when I'm gone

Heaven knows that the answer, she's don't calling no one

She's the way, her sailing beauty for she's mine for the one

And I lost her hesitating by temptation lest it runs

But she don't holler me but I'm not there, I'm gone

Now I'll cry tonight like I cried the night before

And I'm released on the heights in but I'll dream about the door

It's alone, she's forsaken by her fate, worse to tell

"It don't have approximation", she smiled, "Fare thee well"

Now when Ill teach that lady I was born to love her

But she knows that the kingdom waits so high above her

And I run but I race but it's not too fast or slow

But I dont perceive her, I'm not there, I'm gone

Well, it's all about confusion and I cry for her

Well, I dont need anybody now beside me to tell

And its all affirmation I receive but its not

Shes adorned by the beauty but she don't like the spot and she won't

Yes, she's gone like the rainbow that shined yesterday

But now she's home beside me and I'd like her here to stay

She's a lone forsaken beauty and it's don't trust anyone

I wish I was beside her but I'm not there, I'm gone

Well, it's too hard to stay here and I don't want to leave

Its so bad but amusing when shes hard, too hard to leave

Itâs a load, its a crime the way she haunt me around

But she told, Wont you hate me? but [Incomprehensible]

Yes, I believe that its rightful, oh, I believe it in my mind

I been told like I said when I before carry on the grind

And shes on yet she told her like I said, Carry on

I wish I was there to help her but I'm not there, Im gone
